Birthday Party: Part 2 (Cake Smash)

Lawson wasn't really fired up about the whole cake thing. He made a terrible face when he actually tasted the frosting. He was much happier once we gave him his lunch: hot dogs (very carefully pealed and mushed), green beans, and Cheetos. He's such a healthy eater!!!

And, this was about 30 minutes after everyone left. The birthday boy was exhausted and, as you can see, I may have been a little tired too. Many I love snuggling this sweet boy.

We had such an amazing day. We are so very blessed! I just love these two boys.

Birthday Party: Part 1

I know it's taken me almost a month to post about Lawson's first birthday, but when I have the choice of blogging ABOUT my baby boy or playing WITH my baby boy, PLAYING WITH will always win. :-)

We had Lawson's birthday party a week after his actual birthday. We decided that would give everyone a little more time to recuperate after Christmas and to get back in the swing of things. Turned out that everyone need the extra week to get well. Pretty much everyone in our family was sick over Christmas Break, including Lawson.

I sort of had a theme picked for the first birthday party before Lawson was even born. I've pretty sure I sent a picture of the cake I wanted to Carla before we were even sure we were having a boy. I know. I'm nuts. BUT, it turned out great!

Here is the Birthday Boy in one of his birthday shirts (I actually did the applique on this :-)). Only a few people has arrived at this point, but he was ready for birthday action.

The cake table: This is the cake I picked. I just love the red and brown and the topsy-turvy tiers. Carla also made "monkey bars" (AKA rice crispy treats with sock monkey wrappers). I LOVE her rice crispy treats! I knew from the get go I wanted to display one of Lawson's newborn pics with his sock monkey and one of his one-year pics with the same sock monkey. Look how big my boy has gotten!!!

Here are some other decoration/party theme sites from around the party that day.

High chair banner. Too cute. Lawson's chair conveniently matched the theme colors. :-)

Good bags for the kids. I could have used red or brown bags, but i love the sort of vintage look of the brown paper bags.

Brown and read candy and of course bananas. You have to have bananas at a monkey party.

And here are some shots from the day. A huge thanks to my Uncle Doug for coming and taking pictures for us. He did a great job and I didn't have to worry about making sure I was getting a picture of everyone/thing. This first picture I took with my phone. Lawson was getting a sneak peak at some of the pics from Uncle Doug the photographer. :-)

So much fun!!!!!

Indoor Tent

So, what do you get a one year old who has everything (two of some things)? A tent for his bedroom of course!!

This was night one right after Jason put the tent up. As you can see he also got his very own  lantern. You have to have a lantern if you're going to camp...errr...have a tent in your room. :-)

This isn't some miniature tent. This a two person tent. We put his toy box in there along with ll of his balls. As you can see, it's twice the size of the bed. Overkill much? Nah.

He's checking out the new digs with his ole' pal Monk (in hand/mouth).

Nana might have staged this picture a little...ya think? Silly Nana. Big Monk looks pretty happy in there.

Ahhh...home sweet home. This picture cracks me up so much. He's such a silly kid.

Stay tuned for another belated birthday post from the actual party.
